Holy Shit
Apparently the RCMP locked down the Bio Sciences building at UBC. Apparently there’s a suicidal student with a gun?
I’m not at school today but I just talked to Alex who’s heading off campus and he said that there were 2 helicopters circling but everyone was kind of just going about their business.
It doesn’t sound like anyone was hurt at least? But CBC says there’s an explosive disposal unit there.
Holy shit you guys.

Hey, the CBC linked to your page, I have no idea what’s happening here. I live less than a block from the BioSci building, and I was there attending class this morning. No one seems to know anything about it…?
I was out walking the dog at 3pm, and I saw 2 helicopters and a plane flying in circles, but I couldn’t quite see the logo on them. Freaky, I agree… I understand confidentiality/safety issues, but I wish the RCMP or Toope would send an update so we’d know what was happening…

UBC really needs to get their act together.
1) We were asked to input our cell phone numbers into SSC after the VTech crisis, so where were the emergency text messages?
2) The office of S. Toope sent out emails concerning the situation. Emails? Seriously? Who checks their emails while in class, or walking to and from class? “Oh, I think I’ll just whip out my laptop right now in the middle of the road and check my email.”
3) Why are the details of the exact situation being kept secret? Everybody on campus is still wondering what happened, speculations and rumours are increasing by the minute, and there is a certain degree of panic in the air.
Ridiculous.

Also, someone suggested that we had not been sent the text messages because it would have been “too expensive”. Sounds entirely believable!

Why the hell would CBC link to me? So weird.
