(Hello! I've read your blog for a long long while and never commented or anything, but uh here I go.)

No one I've yet talked to has made any comment about the uncomfortableness of Inglourious Basterds so thank you thank you for bringing it up and articulating a lot of what I was feeling about it, especially in that last comment! So I'm definitely glad to have read this.

Kevan - that was kind of my issue, and something I totally wound up arguing with people about. It's like the movie kind of wants you to not care about history or the difficult moral position of Germans who were, say, forcibly enlisted or whatever, but at the same time, it's kind of a hard question to ignore.

And I do love Glee.

I was in the exact same boat about inglourious basterds - loved it, but was really uncomfortable during the movie theatre scene. I talked with T about it, but couldn't really articulate why it made me uneasy, or why it felt like too much. Maybe a comment about contempt and villification of Germany by western Europe, and North America in general since then? Search me.

Also, you might like Glee, but I'm not sure about that, either.
